Are there better broadband models? Yes. Of course. Are they 2-3 times more expensive? YES SIR. I think this lens is exceptional and I've actually landed a BIG deal since the new Mark II came out. The Mark II version (unless you're a Nikon photographer) did nothing but add a special anti-reflective coating to reduce glare on digital sensors, which the film wasn't as sensitive to. Big Scream. Buy a B&W or Hoya with digital cover http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BH5OW6/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1aaaaa and you're done! A constant f2.8 aperture is great, especially when shooting indoors to make rooms appear huge. If you're shooting with a Nikon, then spend an extra $200 on an autofocus motor on the new MkII version that wasn't included with the original Nikon. My equipment: Canon 7D. Tamron SP90mm macro. Tokina 11-16 ATX116 Pro DX. Tamron SP 70-300mm Di VC USD. Sigma 35mm ART
