This is a heavy-duty wire. Why did I fix the cheap yellow wire in the fence kit so many times? If you're a first-time pet fencer, spend the extra $$ and save on installing new wires and repairing broken yellow wires and get this 14 ga wire. I hope I never have to use my broken wire detector again. I just installed this 14ga cable. Another reviewer said it wasn't the advertised length but was noticeably shorter, hopefully a one off mistake. I had 500ft exactly as my previous set of 500ft yellow wires was just right for my property and so was this one. The only problem/difficulty is that the 14ga is a bit heavier/thicker for the connectors on the transmitter and lightning protection. I have to secure the wires so they don't slip out, no big deal. After 6 months of yellow wire failure my 2 cockers still knew the limit until one ran outside last week. That's when I knew I had to start this repair NOW. Putting the transmitter on a lower level couldn't be more satisfying that everything is as it should be.
