Stay away! The last batch was defective. The first batch had a sAMOLED display; latest IPS screen!

See update below! UPDATE 04/29/2020: The original battery drops quickly first to 10% and then very quickly to the last 50% for several hours, even in standby mode. I have now tested a second battery on this one and it has a steep drop of the first 19% within 1 hour and then the last 10% are gone quickly. Decreased from 100% to 81% within 1 hour of standby. So this battery is also defective (probably an original Samsung battery). Both charge very quickly which indicates the batteries are low and not holding a charge - either the charger or the J3 phone will destroy the battery leaving the phone defective. Hands off! Since 2 batteries are already defective in this model, this indicates a malfunction of the phone or charger. I always use the charger that came with it. The seller did not return the money and did not replace the phone. Also Amazon. I suggest buying smartphones on eBay as I have much more experience with defective products and warranties with them. All of these batteries are, it seems, "Made in China" and I suspect they just didn't add enough chemicals to the battery to save a penny, or the phones were sloppily made. That's my phone is definitely a lemon. UPDATE 03/17/2020: Do not buy. Now the phone freezes and not responding without removing the battery. This batch is clearly defective. Neither Amazon nor the seller nor Samsung will make a replacement. If you come across a defective one discovered a month after purchase, the returns window has closed and you are on your own. After that, Amazon, the seller and Samsung all have a hot potato to bypass the warranty (I sent them a graphic of the battery chart where you can clearly see that the first 10% and the last 50% within 2 hours until the phone cuts out). Revain agents forced me to try safe mode, but no difference when chatting with 10+ agents in one session. No solution. Now I prefer to shop at my local store - at least I don't buy AT&T promo phones anymore. These phones appear to have less quality control at the factory and are mass-produced for AT&T using cheaper materials. People who've bought J3 models from local stores don't have a problem, I'm told. I doubt Samsung can fix this phone but rather show responsibility around and away from them as I'll be buying another new phone anyway. UPDATE 3/7/2020: Do not buy this phone. Tired of constantly struggling with a dead battery. In the event of a power failure, the phone will most likely also be discharged, so it is completely unreliable in emergency situations. You can't rely on them. This may have something to do with the AT&T branding as J3 phones bought locally work fine. Neither Amazon nor the seller nor Samsung will do a replacement, leaving the buyer pretty much on their own. Even the first one I gave to another person behaves similarly, that is, the battery life is simply unacceptable. By making 3 quick calls a day, checking Messenger 3 times a day for 30 seconds, and texting 3 quick texts, the next morning the phone wakes up dead – mostly idle and in extreme battery saver mode. Useless scrap. If it weren't for the very good Android 9.0, I would have given it 1 star. For comparison, a locally purchased Samsung J2 Prime with the same sized battery and Android 6.01 lasted 3 to 6 days of battery life under the same conditions. This particular model or lot appears to have many lemons and defective units. What happened to Revain/Seller/AT&T/Samsung?! UPDATE 2/26/2020: Samsung isn't doing phone replacements and Revain says "refund expired" so I'm stuck on this issue. It's definitely not the battery as if you have problems the phone will continue to behave this way or you give the problems "time to fix" after 30 days and you are pretty much alone with this phone. Beware of potentially faulty equipment and old batteries stored on shelves that are no longer powered. Still 3 stars for the pleasant Android 9.0 experience. UPDATE 02/24/2020: The phone's battery or power management is faulty. The battery curve shows a steep drop in the first 15% of battery charge (from 100% to 80%) and then an even steeper drop in the last 50% (from 50% to 0%) in standby mode. Indicates the battery is not holding a charge or the phone's power management electronics are defective. I have never seen it. It varies a bit from load to load, but I can't get over it even a day. All battery consuming apps and settings are disabled, uninstalled, or disabled (no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and nothing synced), e.g. B. Standby sometimes 51% at night and 10% in the morning (only standby and the phone is not used). According to the specifications, this phone should last 6 to 8 days in standby mode. These phones have never received Android updates or patches - I don't know if that's normal. Beware of possibly bad batteries or phone hardware (I don't think it's a software issue). However, I really like Android 9.0 (the last batch was with Android 9, not 8.0). Two phones I've purchased have been known to experience random freezes and this is another issue to worry about. This is a very good smartphone for the money. Android 8.0. Came with lots of malware from AT&T that cannot be used outside of the US. Some malware won't let you uninstall. Otherwise buy with confidence this is a good phone. The display is SAMOLED, it's unlocked so you can insert any SIM card. The display is easy to read at 70% brightness in bright sunlight outdoors. The battery life isn't as great as the J2 Prime I have, so it lasts about 2 days with just Wi-Fi on all the time, while my J2 Prime lasts 3 to 5 days without Wi-Fi. Android 8.0 Oreo is slightly better than Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, but in everyday life there is not much difference. This phone is constantly looking for something while I have everything disabled that I could disable so I don't know what else to disable to save battery life. It's super responsive and does everything a smartphone should do. The battery is replaceable and I believe has 2600 mAh. Photos are good enough but like the J2 Prime, no digital IS so it's easy to blur. Otherwise a decent camera for everyday use. There is no front flash for selfies, but there is a rear flash. For selfies, it brightens up much of the screen replacing the flash, which I think works well. A good quality Samsung phone as always expected from Samsung. The only downside is the somewhat short battery life, but this screen is HD and SAMOLED as they claim, so it can draw a bit more power. However, if you turn off all antennas, it is quite possible to use 3 days on a single battery charge. Small form factor phone. I recommend this model and brand. This is the AT&T 2018 release of the Samsung J3 smartphone. UPDATE 02/02/2020: I bought the first one and about a year later the second one. Be careful! The first batch has a very good sAMOLED display, but the last batch (I don't know when it changed) does NOT. The last one I bought has a basic IPS display. Kind of a disappointment as I bought it hoping to get a sAMOLED display like the first. This is misleading. They work, at least as they should, and they're good phones. The first phone came with Android 8.0 and the last one with Android 9.0. They never seem to get OS updates from AT&T or Samsung. The first phone had a sticker on the screen that said 'sAMOLED', the second didn't. So if you buy it now, you're likely to get a "lower quality" IPS screen, although it's HD and very bright, it doesn't compare to a sAMOLED screen in bright sunlight. Mind you, they switched screens between production batches.
