Make. Your. research work.

I wanted to intervene because I see this little talker is getting an unfair bad name for being misunderstood. That's the problem. If you're looking for a great Bluetooth speaker that sounds amazing and will handle all your small speaker needs by itself, you're looking in the wrong place. Don't get me wrong, the Play1 sounds pretty good and it's a well-made, solid little speaker, but overall Sonos' mission isn't to give you a small standalone Bluetooth speaker. Sonos is designed as a HIFI sound system for the whole home. I would rather describe play1 as a component designed to work with a larger system. The Play1 won't blow you away in a room alone, but when paired with another Play1 and a Sonos subwoofer and playbar for surround sound, it sounds fantastic. The Sonos software, the extra components (amp, amp jack, etc.) and the need to have a very strong WiFi signal to use it all are only worth it if you're running a full system. If you only have one or two Play1s and are disappointed with the app and all the software updates, you're absolutely right, it's not worth it. However, if you use a multi-room grouping app and take advantage of updates that allow you to play different media in different rooms with Alexa (examples only), updates suddenly become less of a burden. I addressed that a second ago too, but it's important to understand that they're not intended to be used as Bluetooth speakers. You MUST use the Sonos app to play almost anything (Spotify Connect allows you to play music from the Spotify app with a paid Spotify subscription - some other services do the same). Again, this is because the intended use should be to connect multiple rooms in your house to the system and play music anywhere. It makes sense that Sonos can't guarantee sync lag or room/speaker lag unless the Sonos system controls all output. The added benefit is that you can compile Sonos playlists that pull songs from multiple sources. Have an album saved on Spotify but can only find this live version of your favorite song on Google Play? You can create a Sonos playlist that wraps everything up in one killer track list. Also, these are not computer speakers. <Notice the period at the end of this sentence. Almost every review you find on Revain from someone saying they hope to use them as really good sounding computer speakers would be given a 1 star rating. I think it says more about people's lack of study than the quality of the game. 1. Finally, it should be clear that Sonos has been adding Alexa integration (as well as other virtual assistants) to its service in recent years. Yes, it is true that due to this update their privacy policy has changed. It amazes me that there are so many replies from people who are so excited about Sonos invading privacy. I mean if you really lived off the grid. like 0% tech in your life then I might see some concern that your new Hi-Fi system is spying on you for the government. However, most people always have a smartphone with them that knows where they are going, what they are buying, who they are talking to and what media they like. These people almost certainly had no problem agreeing to the same kind of privacy policy just so they could use these devices to ask Siri, Alexa, or Google Assistant about the weather every day. All I'm saying is that the only difference between Sonos and Apple or Google is that Sonos makes sure you know exactly what you're OK with, making it impossible to use their product without consent, rather than the ugly bits of the policy hide. in a 55-page updated document that they know no one will read. I'm just trying to keep things in perspective here. In any case. If you've been standing on stairs, running speaker wire through a false ceiling, punching holes in walls, or buying carpeting to hide the shame of your wired system lately. or worse, you just have bundles and skeins of cords and wires all over the house and you're finally willing to pay for that HIFI system to put an end to the misery and sound amazing without a second thought. Sonos is what you need. If you're at your computer fooling around on the internet and your favorite song doesn't sound as clear as you'd like, or you're on a budget of $200 to fill 1 room in your house with sound, keep looking where your speakers are is here ;-) Hope this helps, cheers!
