We also bought this to use in our caravan to cover the vented window in the roof. On the front, we installed this retractable ventilation screen. It was really easy to install by simply removing the existing screws holding the frame in place, lining up the holes in the screen and replacing the screws and wall. It has a small screw that can be added on the other side to keep it closed. It works like a curtain in a house, just pull it out and when you're ready to close it there's a little button at the end that can also be pressed and released. That worked very well for us. There's a small gap along the back edge that lets in some light but doesn't let in most of the light, so it's not too bad. I think with a slight design change it could close the entire hole with no gap. All in all it's not bad and quite well made considering you're not something you open and close often.
