My 12 year old Dyson DC33 suddenly stopped picking up dirt from the carpet. The racquet stopped spinning. I cleaned the bar. No rotation. I removed the black plastic ends of the whisk and cleaned the hairballs. No rotation. Remaining belts or clutch assembly. The straps were intact. The original Dyson clutch assembly was a necessary part. The rasp bar now rotates. I was able to fix my Dyson DC33 using some YouTube videos. It wasn't easy, but certainly not impossible. There were some tools I had to buy. The price for the clutch assembly was 1/4 of what the vacuum shop told me. I know the time I spent repairing this Dyson was MUCH longer than a Dyson mechanic (45 minutes to an hour). It took me about 2.5 hours installing and rearranging other parts to get to the clutch and belt assembly. But I like to save. I liked doing it myself. I love my Dyson. TO UPDATE. My Dyson DC33 works like new. Don't vacuum every day, but regularly. Also, I took care of the housework during self-isolation. My Dyson DC33 helps with cleaning. Clutch replacement was successful.
