Firstly, the best advice I can give you is if you need an Incra ruler. Go to YouTube and search "incra rules". You want to watch the video "INCRA Rules - Full Version". It lasts about 8.5 minutes and covers each of the lines. This video will give you an idea of which rulers can be useful for you. Finally, here's what I have to offer that you won't find in the YouTube video I recommend. The marking holes are so small that you will need a 0.5mm mechanical pencil. Or you may have to use your stationery knife to flatten the tip of a regular pencil. I used the latter method but ended up buying a mechanical pencil. Someone in a review said they come with a mechanical pencil. not mine. Last note. Incre rulers are made of thin, malleable metal. So I wouldn't keep them in my tool bucket! This is not a criticism at all, just a statement of fact. I also own the 6" and 3" Precision Marking T-Lines and the Incra BNDRUL12 12" Incra Precision Bend Rules and find them just as useful as this product. They are also discussed in the video I link to above. I'm a big fan of incra products.
