Review on 🎧 Enhanced Sound Experience: SMSL DP3 DSD HiFi Headphone Amplifier with Turntable, WiFi, and Hard Disk Music Player by Marcel Robinson

This is a really excellent desktop/shelf digital player. All features/features work great. I haven't found anything that comes close to this level of quality and features at this price point. Network, WLAN and hard drive/USB stick work perfectly. This product deserves praise for its price. I'm sure there are devices out there that are just as good or better, but with this level of features and quality (build quality and sound quality), you're paying a lot more. The value is exceptional. I use it with digital outputs connected directly to a separate DAC. Signal quality and timing are excellent. When I hook up a digital reclocker to the line (to remove jitter), it does almost nothing, telling me the device's output is timely and has little or no jitter. Everything sounds very "sharp" and "clear". I have a few things I'd like to do differently or better, but they're all minor things. The screen, especially the text on the screen, is too small. I understand why given the device is in such a small form factor, but it could be an improvement. - The rotary encoder is too sensitive and "jittery", so you have to slow down a bit to make an accurate selection. If you use it as a preamp (and I don't) I can imagine how annoying it can be. The headphone amplifier could be a bit more powerful. It has excellent sound quality, but is a bit lacking in power for large and power-hungry headphones. The RCA output is for the preamp only, so you need to adjust the volume. I wish it had a fixed line out option for connecting directly to another preamp. Finally, it would be really nice to have fast forward and rewind buttons on the front of the unit and on the remote, rather than having to navigate through the menu to skip to a different track each time. Neither is a deal breaker, especially for the price. Everything else works great. This unit replaces my aging 200 disc changer. Comparing my CD changer and the Dp3 side by side with the optical outputs, the Dp3 definitely sounds "tighter" and " so it may not be obvious if you're not careful. It's pretty obvious to me because I wanted to see if there were any changes and also because I've been systematically comparing it to my other hardware that's been tuned over time. Four stars at this price folks. ** UPDATE 2 ** With firmware update 1.6 they changed the text color on the screen to black.
