Solid seat base and that was the best price I could find anywhere especially on the model that includes the seat slide. The only downside is that the base has a very, very rough matte finish. I mean it looks like it was sanded with 24 grit sandpaper. I had to sand them down a bit to smooth them out and remove some of the metal splinters.
