Works great for changing channels and starting a scan. I found 16 channels with good reception. BUT, after entering each of the three codes that apply to the TV I'm using, I can't control the volume and "turn on and off" with a single remote. At the end of the manual it says "You can always use it with your TV remote." Don't say it will do a specific function if it can't. So now I turn the TV on/off and change the volume with the TV remote, turn the set top box on/off and change channels with the box remote.
