My '70s bathtub with a small thin metal grille that doesn't always stay in place. There is also a crossbar in the hole so many replacement parts will not fit. I dared, although I doubted its effectiveness because of the seemingly large spaces. And I didn't need 5 of them. I just put it on my existing grill. When I turn on the water the odor trap might move a little, but when the shower is running it stays put. It works surprisingly well, draining water completely and catching all the hair. I am disabled so I can easily use the handle to lift my hair without leaning in the tub. I have a long haired cat with very fine hair and the sink in this bathroom somehow collects its hair in the drain. This means it is constantly being extracted to facilitate the flow. I pulled the cork out, suddenly glad I got 5, and put another in. Works great and I love hearing the water drain freely. It may be a while before I can really judge, but the difference is already there. It seems crazy to write such a long review of such a simple product, but a tedious problem solved with a simple solution is a great relief.
