Good. I've been using it for about three months now and thought it was time to write a review based on more than immediate reactions. Admittedly, we haven't had a new desktop microwave in ages, so it has to be assumed that progress has been made and the old Sharp microwave has become obsolete. However, this Farberware microwave is really good, not just for the money, not just compared to the old Sharp, but objectively in itself. For us, the silent unit was non-negotiable. (We struggled for years with a Viking microwave that was almost as quiet as a Boeing 747 on takeoff before we switched to GE — and found we'd suffered for nothing. The old Sharp clearly failed. Still, it had a wonderful design. , with controls on the top rather than the right. This meant a relatively small box could fit on a very large sign. Correct, the numbers stopped reading. Correct, the horn eventually stopped beeping. The time setting was no longer reliable. So after that, as a theology student trying to understand the meaning of God, reading the reviews and specifications, we decided to get this unit. What a delight: Quiet, heats food quickly, the "Softening" function really gets softer and the auto warm up function works pretty well Three instant power buttons (1, 2 and 3 minutes each) plus a 30 second power button, so if you need a minute and a half, press "1" and then press "On -30 seconds" and you're done. is this perfect no We'd like the display to be backlit because all the small buttons are hard to read. Did I say it was quiet?
