Review on Ultimate Magnetic Door Stop πŸšͺ - Efficient and Stylish Solution for Doors by Carrie Thal

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Quality is good but installation is much more difficult than expected.

I wanted to install these latches because we have a couple of doors that open and close because the walls aren't see through. I saw them in a very expensive house that we rent in Hawaii every year and realized I could have them in my house for just a few dollars. They are of reasonably good quality but I have two small complaints. First, they're pretty damn difficult to assemble so that the two pieces fit together perfectly. I've installed three so far and none of them have really hit the spot perfectly. They are all slightly off-center despite my best efforts. There are also no instructions or tips on how to do it properly. And I'm not sure if it's because they don't quite match, but my second issue is that they don't seem to have the magnetic pull I was expecting based on the ones I've used before. I often open the door and it hits the latch, but instead of catching, the spring-loaded magnet bounces the door off the wall and it closes again. On the other hand, it doesn't require any extra effort to get the door off the latch, so I think that's a compromise.

Pros
  • Feels good
Cons
  • Not the best
