Review on ๐Ÿšช Dorman 931-327 Rear Passenger Side Door Lock Actuator Motor: Cadillac/Chevrolet/GMC Compatible Models by Alexis Guiney

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Bad quality good for spare parts

Let me start by saying that this part has endured 2 years of daily driving. The substitution job is not that difficult if you have minimal skills and patience. I replaced all of the actuators in the '08 Suburban and this is the only time I've used this part. Other times I have only used Gruven parts with a drive motor replacement. The gravel part works and is a permanent fix, but requires special skills including welding. I decided to try a complete drive replacement. From day one, this machine always sounded like it was dying. Closing the door made a very awkward sound and as mentioned the drive motor is loud and very obnoxious. Today he finally died and the door was in the locked position. It was a fun task removing the panel with the door closed and gaining access to the drive to take a look and rant until it finally came loose enough to unlock and open the door. I can only operate the door lock manually if I leave the drive cable unplugged. When the drive is engaged, it is released and locked, but not unlocked. Even manual labor with the lock doesn't disengage the inner motor, one has to be rough on that detail and I'm sure she loves to be scolded. I do not recommend.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • The list will be long.
