Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Enhanced Leveling Premium Extension by ANTCLABS BLTouch by Lonnie Batch

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Installed on my CR-10s Pro, from inconsistent to perfection every time.

I bought a Creality CR-10s Pro and it comes with a capacitive automatic level sensor. While some people have had great luck with it, many including myself have had NO luck with its ability to level the bed. My capacitive sensor readings were all over the place, fluctuating 0.4mm in a certain direction (randomly). The bed has never been level. The Z offset had to be entered on each print, sometimes changing the distance by as much as 0.5mm. This rendered Creality completely unusable. I decided to go ahead and install a BLTouch sensor as some people have had better luck with them. It's like day and night. Installation wasn't very easy with the CR-10s Pro (and the cables provided here don't have the right connectors for the pros, who need a JST XH connector for the black and white wires and separate JST SM connectors for the other three cables ), but once everything was plugged into the correct ports, all I had to do was comment out one line of code in the TH3D firmware, flash the new display firmware, and instantly I had a printer that could reliably print without hitting the spot got to where I've been with all my Prusa printers (which use an inductive sensor with much better accuracy than a capacitive sensor) where I could just adjust the Z offset when changing nozzles or platform surfaces and then forget about it. Now I just hit "Print" and away we go. There is no mess. You can't go back to a scratched bed in one corner or a non-stick imprint in the other. It's perfect every time. Absolutely worth the price.

Pros
  • BLTouch is an open source auto-leveling sensor for 3D printers.
Cons
  • Socket required
