Review on Makita XPH11ZB Lithium Ion Sub Compact Driver Drill: Power-Packed Performance in a Compact Size by Tony Wilson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Old Makita batteries can work if you just make a notch in the slot. No Dremel required, just a hacksaw blade

I was impressed by how much smaller it is than my previous 13 year old Makita that was stolen. I've been a fan of Makita since they invented the cordless drill and cordless tool in the early 90's. This brushless drill is very quiet and you will not see any arcing or sparks in the armature as it is brushless. I can only assume they improved the bearings to keep them that quiet and according to the Makita website, omitting the brushes can increase performance by 50%. I need to see THAT, but now this little guy is striking!

Pros
  • Weighs only 2.9 lbs. Battery included (battery not included) to reduce operator fatigue
Cons
  • No instructions
