Works perfect! in Welding Helmets

My wife is a dental hygienist and face shields are required due to her job and COVID-19 protective gear. Due to a shortage of face shields, a piece of clear plastic was supplied, about the thickness of a sheet of paper, to which a strap and foam block were glued. Needless to say, this was uncomfortable and she also had to wear a hat, which made her feel hot. Another thing is that dental loupes could not be worn since the shield was close to the face. I used a skid plate in a design that I thought would fit the bill. He had the same problem with being close to his face. It's also a bit harder. I removed the headgear that came with the shield, made some aluminum stays that attached to the shield at the temples and extended to the back of the head, only about an inch or so. This headpiece attached to braces I made and allowed me to fine tune the distance from the face. The only handle for putting on and taking off the hat is also surprising. In a tightened state, it could literally be turned upside down and the shield would not fall off. It keeps the shield from moving so much that I attached a small spotlight to the shield (the spotlight is only 1.5" x 1.5" at 3 feet). The single handle also greatly simplifies the fight against contamination as only one hand is required to remove the headgear. This is a HUGE deal when you work in an environment susceptible to virus infection. My wife received many comments about the shield and headgear. Maybe I should start doing these things.
