I figured that any of these adapters would generate noise on the screen. I compared a monitor with HDMI and VGA inputs. I couldn't tell any difference in the picture whether it went through that VGA converter or plugged a monitor directly into HDMI. Perfect! Tried with 24 inch Viewsonic monitor and Lenovo and Acer laptops (Windows 10). This adapter allows for both extended display and mirroring/duplication. When first connecting by default on both laptops, the main display was duplicated. You need to right click on the desktop and change the display setting to extend display to allow different windows to be displayed on 2 monitors. Permit. Allows you to choose different resolutions. When mirroring an old Acer, the resolution was set lower because it matched Acer's resolution. But switching to Extended Resolution automatically switched to 1980x1080.
