not close to work as it should be for the cost.

As others have said, once I got one I see the problem now. It doesn't fit well and is flush with the front of the top air intake. it wobbles back and forth about 1/8 inch, maybe a little more, leaving that gap up front just below the intake. Well, I don't see anything stopping them from making it bigger so it fits better, or like the other tanks that support them from having it "tilt" forward by tilting the bottom a little while they do put your feet on the back of the filter. Either way, most water will just want to take the path of least resistance, which is forward freedom. Of course, some will use the filter section, but not as much as now. As a result, no water flowing directly downwards gets into the filter medium. So I made adjustments and added a very thin piece of filter sponge along the back of the box where it slides up and down to remove the cleaning material. This seems to push the box forward and against the front and as far as I can tell almost all the water is now flowing through the filter media. However, you don't have to do this for something that's precision laser cut, costs that much, and is made to Fluval Spec V. Also note that you need to plug the small hole in the bottom of the tank below the filter inlet. This is to prevent filter problems when your water level drops, but if you're going to be on top of the tank even once a week, it's not necessary. Secure it with glue or some kind of cork. I have mine plugged in and when I'm away for about 1 week I unplug it while I'm away for security and plug it back in when I get back. This is a must as otherwise you will bypass the filter and go straight into your pump and clog it up much quicker.
