Bearings are built to specification although due to the lubricant used it took some time to break in compared to other bearings - 3 hours at mile 11 or so it was like the bearings eventually broke. and entered his groove for the rest of the day with a smooth rolling motion. Before that, an extra push or cut was needed here and there to get the right feel. The shields work as intended and the design of the shield really made a big difference as I blasted through puddles, mud, gravel, dirt, debris, someone's hat and whatever was on the city streets. Went back and quickly wiped with an internal review and good to ride next day. EDIT: Had to recently remove worn grease from the bearings, winter riding has always been the bane of any bearing and unfortunately it is not. Exception. The fat would clog and freeze in sub-zero temperatures, and the salt/snow/ice/brine mix helped little. In the meantime it has been cleaned and re-greased, but the bearings just don't turn like that anymore in bad weather.
