These are great pens but the main reason I am writing this review is to clarify the size of these pens so others don't get confused and run into problems like I did. These pins (Item #2509) are 0.5mm thick, not 0.6mm as stated in the description. According to their website, Clover sells 2 types of quilting needles - regular quilting needles (package labeled "Quilting Pin" item #2508). and these thin quilting pins (package labeled Quilting Pins (Fine), Art. No. 2509). Regular quilting needles are 0.6 x 48mm and have green and orange/red opaque heads. The fine quilting needles (advertised on this listing) are 0.5mm x 48mm and have green and orange/red translucent heads. They are the same gauge but longer than Clover silk needles (item 2501, 0.5 x 36mm) and regular Clover patchwork needles (item 232, 0.5 x 36mm). They are thicker and longer than the Clover Fine Patchwork Pins (item 2507, 0.4 x 36mm). As far as my review goes, these are great pins for a variety of uses. They are long, thin and sharp. They go through fabric easily without leaving large or permanent holes in the fabric. The longer length makes it easier to handle. The heads are heat-resistant, so they can be ironed without hesitation. The box they come in is a bit cheap, but it's a compact place to store pins if you're careful (I think most people will keep them in some sort of pincushion anyway). I attach tape on one side so I don't lose the lid. I haven't had any issues with the glass heads coming loose, but maybe time will tell. They feel pretty well connected, but I haven't gone through or reviewed every single pin. I've found that they flex on thicker/stiffer fabrics. It's usually not permanent if you're careful (only if you put the pieces together), but I can see how they can be irreversibly deformed in some cases. Given how long and thin these pins are, I think there's a trade-off between making this material more flexible and easy to bend or stiffer and easy to break. I believe these pins are safer to bend than break under load, so I'm not deducting stars for that.
