Overall I like these clips but can't give them 5 stars. Advantages: These clips are very suitable for kayak paddles. They hold the oars very securely. We have them on two boats. I attach clamps to the front and back of the boats so that when we are on a large river or lake we can use the oars to tie the boats together into a raft. Also place them on the sides of the boat for regular paddle holders. Mediocre: I found the equipment provided substandard. Sufficiently long screws and a soft rubber blind nut. When I tightened the nuts, they came loose from the rubber. If you don't mind the clips being loose, you can only tighten them halfway. I wanted the clamps to be tight on the boats. I used my own stainless steel hardware on two rigs and on the third I swapped out the blind nuts and used the long screws that were provided. Disadvantage: Each clamp has four very sharp corners. They are on the inside top where the blades snap into place. Gave me a good cut when I hit the latch while paddling. I recommend blunting the corners with a file or sandpaper. I just did this on all our boats.
