I took it to replace the younger model M20X. Compared to her, the M40X is just space. High quality rich sound. The stage seems closer. There is a question about the frequency response, but in defense I will say that I did not warm them up enough. About the frequency response: there are no complaints about the average frequencies, but the low ones, as for me, are a little underestimated, on speakers or other headphones, when mixing on these, the bass sticks out very much, you have to get used to it to mix normally, but since these are monitor headphones, in fact, it should be so, the rest is a matter of technology. The tops are a little high, but not much, they do not cut the ears. As a result, the frequency response is quite even with small ones, but to which you can adjust. There is not enough wire for 1.2 meters, but it is compensated by a twisted wire, so there are no complaints, especially since the M40X is not the top model in the line. I really like the design, the protruding wires on the sides of the headphones have been removed (comparison with the younger model). Comes with a case, which is nice. The earbuds themselves fold for easy transport. The price for them, which is constantly growing, is embarrassing, but I think this is already familiar. In general, the headphones are excellent.
