I was looking for a new monitor... one that's bigger than the current 23 inch monitor I'm using. I decided the 27 inch model would be my best bet. After looking at a few of them, I settled on this particular model from Idea Display. I made my choice for several reasons. First, it's a "gaming" monitor. I'm far from a hardcore gamer, but I do know that displays designed for gaming tend to have the best specs when it comes to performance. And this show of idea doesn't fail. It has a great 170MHz refresh rate and 1ms response time, which is actually the best I've seen. Second, I like that the monitor is frameless. It looks slimmer with an edge-to-edge display, and I don't have to look at those awkward bezels on the sides. And third, I was impressed by the fact that this particular monitor has a metal stand. It might not sound like a lot, but when you have kitties that like to climb all over the table, that extra weight... and security... is important to keep your screen from falling onto the floor. The monitor was very simple. To install. The two parts of the stand simply clicked together...no screws...and the stand just snapped into place at the back. Just note that you need to apply quite a bit of pressure for the stand to snap into place on the back of the screen. I was a bit disappointed that there weren't any real clues in the monitor. There wasn't even a hint as to which knob was used to turn it. It was pretty easy to push them all to find the right one. Luckily I didn't have to find a way to change the input. The monitor itself recognized the HDMI signal. Another downside I found with this monitor is that you can't adjust the height. It tilts back and forth, but there's no way to move it up or down. You'd think the company would pack this feature into a display of this caliber. The display is very clear. I have confirmed this by watching a few videos. Colors were excellent and crisp even at 1920 x 11280. And even in scenes with a lot of movement, there was no lag, ghosting or blurring. It truly outperforms any other monitor I've ever owned. I might even be tempted to buy an FPS game to try it out. But as the name suggests, this monitor is definitely made for gamers. It has 2 HDMI ports and 2 display ports...no VGA. It was a little disappointing but I guess I just have to move with the times. I'm very happy with my new 27" Idea Display. It's slim... well made... and a great performer. Definitely recommend it.
