Let me first say that I like that I can also use the Roku app to control my TCL TV if I can't find the remote control. Which is often due to my kids' innate ability to hide it and the obvious black holes that live between my couch cushions. But I don't always want to give my kids my phone for those same reasons, and this time when our remote went missing over a week ago I broke and just replaced it. I don't know why I waited so long. I'd happily pay $8 to have a handy remote again, and I'm glad I did. I figured buying a new one would either result in the lost one showing up immediately and we would then have a backup, or the damn thing would just disappear and we'd all be looking crazy for it unless I bought a new one. one. As long as I can make sure that day ends in the same logical place it started, it's more than worth the money. But at least I know it won't be expensive to replace once it's gone.
