Before applying I had to clean the smoker first as my last fill caught fire. After the old seal was removed and the metal was completely cleaned, I was able to easily apply this seal to my smoker. The back is very sticky. I had to use a flat head screwdriver to press this gasket against my smoker as the hole is very narrow and I couldn't get my finger in. However, once fully installed, I checked to make sure it was fully pressed onto the metal. I also left this on my smoker for 2 days before making sure the seal was there. After that I started smoking and saw absolutely no leaks anywhere. Even after I checked after my smoker had cooled, the seal was black, but there was no sign of it falling off. I've used the smoker a few times since then and it's still holding up. I've had it for about 2 weeks now and it's still working.
