I bought this to measure the temperature of milk in an instant yogurt cup. For some strange reason, the front of the thermometer is concave, which I didn't notice when ordering. This means that if I gently stir the milk as it heats, the milk usually floods the dial and is unreadable until I remove the thermostat and wipe it clean. It'll probably work well for reading water for sous vide or the like, but if you want to track the temperature in an opaque liquid, you're out of luck.
