Terrible range, my Nighthawk R8000 is three times better

This unit has been refurbished, I am writing this review based on the characteristics of this particular unit. Setup was easy. I didn't like that everything had to be done from a phone or tablet, but it was easy. I have completed setup, the device has downloaded the latest update and connected to the satellite device. I placed the satellite below, checked the connection and everything was fine. But even after checking everything, after a few minutes, when I checked the application, the…

This is the one that fits Whole Home & Mesh Wi-Fi systems

Refurbished was 75% cheaper than the original price so I went with it. In my house, day and night. We've been using it for 3 months now. Our home is about 1,400 square feet upstairs and has an 800 square foot basement that is almost finished; 52 years old at the time of publication. We subscribe to Comcast/Xfinity 300Mbps internet service and get 250Mbps throughout the house and beyond. The system hasn't let us down yet. Required a reboot to get the internet up when our internet service went…

Strongly disappointed.

Very disappointed with the Orbi Mesh. The satellite device received a good signal from the main router, but devices in the same room as the satellite still connected to the main router. This defeats the whole purpose of the system I bought to support the WiFi signal in my 2500 square foot home. It also prevents users from changing Quality of Service (QoS) settings on a per-device basis, which is another major disappointment. I ended up returning that and back to my Nighthawk router.

The best mesh setup on the market. With the best price!

$200 for this setup is easy. This is one of the highest quality nets you can buy in 2019. Tri-band, six internal antennas, 4x4 5GHz backhaul!? It's huge. The Deco m5 costs around $180, and this Orbi bundle knocks it out of the water. Next to my router I was averaging 60-100Mbps, now it's 170. My garage was averaging 30Mbps, I'm getting 170 now. I've spent hours trying to find the best performance at a reasonable price. It definitely is, in terms of performance other mesh options can't match…

Requires a lot of effort. Lots of glitches. Support Cost $$$

When the Orbi system works, it works great. But unfortunately it usually causes me problems. I am very familiar with network protocols. I don't understand why this product just randomly decides to be useless. I've tried everything. Switch channels, switch settings. I can always get it to work, but it's just a problem and I can't trust it to be reliable. When I first got it, I called customer service for help resolving a connection issue with the Ring Doorbell. They couldn't fix it but were…

Works as advertised

I bought a Netgear Orbi to replace a competitor's Wi-Fi system that I have had for years. In the past I have had problems with weak signal in my house even though I have repeaters installed at all levels of my house. After reading about Wi-Fi mesh systems, I decided to give the Orbi a try. I was/was pleasantly surprised that it worked very well. Yes, it works better than the old network extenders I had. With the Orbi, I have pretty good whole house coverage with the three piece Orbi system. I…

Fast but not as far as they claim

I have a Verizon Fios box that covers my whole house. I bought an Orbi to cover the very edges of the house where signal gets lost. Certainly not. But here's what I found: With satellite, I have 100% Wi-Fi coverage in an area I've never had before. So yes, the coverage has increased significantly by doubling. But each box (router and satellite) works just as much as any other wireless router. Imagine you have 2 routers. My Orbi router is next to my old router. The distance from this point to my

Boy it just works!

I did A LOT of research on what to use for Wi-Fi in our new home. We used to have a Linksys/Cisco router that had a hard time getting into a 980 sq ft house, so I knew it wouldn't do for a 1,700 sq ft house. I really like the idea of mesh WiFi, and Orbi seems to have some of the best ratings among the largest number of reviewers (79% 5 stars out of 7000+ reviews). Not only did I take a risk in choosing the brand, I went with the Revain Warehouse deal. I'm glad I did. The packaging was a plain…

Two critical bugs: system hangs and no firewall protection

They were easy to install and use and had good wifi coverage however there were a few things that didn't work and comm return. When they worked, they were great - good signal, good speed, low latency, and generally out of sight. I chose this model because I could also use the satellite as a wired bridge between my house and garage, and the devices in the garage require multiple Ethernet ports. I bought this as a refurbished product so it may be defective and the new product will not have these…
