Review on NETGEAR Orbi System RBK50 Renewed by Rodney Bullock

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Fast but not as far as they claim

I have a Verizon Fios box that covers my whole house. I bought an Orbi to cover the very edges of the house where signal gets lost. Certainly not. But here's what I found: With satellite, I have 100% Wi-Fi coverage in an area I've never had before. So yes, the coverage has increased significantly by doubling. But each box (router and satellite) works just as much as any other wireless router. Imagine you have 2 routers. My Orbi router is next to my old router. The distance from this point to my house is exactly the same as my fios router, if not worse. So the router itself didn't add any extra coverage to one side of my house. But the satellite located 3 rooms on the other side of the house added 100% coverage there. I recommend this device if you want more WiFi coverage BUT you need more satellites. The router itself will not do anything. If I had 2 satellites I could certainly cover my entire garden. I bought a satellite. The setting is unfavorable. The app needs to reboot the router and only making changes takes a few minutes as you will lose wifi because your router reboots. But it works. The speed is AMAZING. My WiFi speed is definitely increased by 5x. Everywhere where I get WiFi the speed is 100%. I've had all of the WiFi boosters, extenders, etc. and none of them even come close in terms of speed and ease of setup. I know the reviews are mixed. Yes it works, yes it's incredibly fast, yes you need at least ONE satellite to get WiFi Boost. No, you can't do anything with the satellite, it just sort of picks up that signal and you'll never know which one you're connected to.
