I do a lot of DIY and needed a cutter to cut my own patterns. and small parts, this cutter is magic. I also have a set of craft knives and the blades work well with this cutter too. So far I have used this on paper, plastic and fabric. Of course, how long a blade lasts depends on what you use it for and how often you use it. This cutter also has a hard plastic lid for safe storage as it is very sharp. It's comfortable, doesn't slip, has a really good grip and cuts smoothly and accurately with every cut and I usually use the template as a guide but on some projects I use it to free my hand and it didn't bother me let down yet. The only time this won't cut properly is if you're using a dull blade or not following the correct form of your work. Also the color is nice and nice sea green (at least that's what it looks like to me). It's simple and easy to use, my kids (14 and 16 years old) use it in their projects with no problem. Make sure you use this with some kind of support underneath so you don't ruin your tables or accidentally injure yourself. I use a self-healing cutting mat. This is a fantastic tailor.
