Right out of the box I expected the ceramic blade to be very sharp, at least razor sharp. But this product wasn't. This was not the item I wanted from this company and believe me I have shopped here and on their website but the discount offered was more than I could have missed. The shape is quite ergonomic. It's too unusual for me, but I thought that the sharpness of the blade more than makes up for it! I also bought one for my nephew and have already colored mine so it's hard to mix them up so returns are simply not an option. I haven't had a chance to ask him, but mine won't cut through paper, will cut through tape, will cut through felt, will cut through very thin leather and neoprene or rubber. Did I miss something? Was there anything in the description that the blade was just a placeholder and I had to order the blades to go with it? I re-read the description and couldn't find it anywhere where it was stated, but I may have missed it. I understand finger safety and all, but does this have to be a precision knife? How can I accurately cut each of my crafts if it doesn't cut anything? I'm so disappointed, I really wanted to love this company's products, I wanted every single one. I have been using scalpels on patients for over 25 years, I have never seen anything so boring and this company makes sterile scalpels! I have no idea why if they are so stupid. Don't waste your money on an old-fashioned X-Acto knife, razor blade, utility knife, or even a scalpel.
