Not quite ready for the US market

Immediately after the printer arrived I received an email explaining that this printer model is new to the US and that I have the base voltage of 230 V would need to set to 110V. Since I've already assembled, tested and discovered this myself, I've written it off as "not ready for the US market". However, this delta has some advantages and disadvantages; Pros: 1) HIGH print capacity - my model prints models 300mm and taller, 2) FAST - compared to my i3 Cartesian printers, this thing flies, 3) 32-bit controller and touchscreen - as soon as you get the hang of it out menu, it's pretty handy, although the STOP function is 3 menus deep, 4) automatic bed leveling (sort of) - it uses a sensor that attaches to the tool head with a magnet, but you still have to do a 'paper test' " do and do the "z-offset" adjustment and it's trial and error. PRECISE in every dimension! Shocker, especially from the delta, but there was definite ringing and flying around corners. Cons: 1) Partial cooling (see photo) - there is quite a bit of "chicken skin" on the surface of the prints (see photo). Technical support advised me to slow down printing to solve this problem - WRONG ANSWER. Printer should print A-OK with default settings with their software, 2) NOISE is LOUD - Controller is MKS Robin MINI with old stepper drivers. Since the firmware is proprietary, it's unlikely they can be updated even if they're in outlets. 3) Belt tension won't stay tight - this has caused some strange problems such as: B. Converting round objects into ovals. The black vase-shaped container in the photo is an example; The 2 halves should hold together. but they don't. 4) Sticking to the bed - if you follow FLSUN's instructions for setting the Z offset, your parts WILL NOT come loose from the bed! Either too much stick or horrible elephant paw - don't know if bed temp is right, 5) No filament end sensor - easy add-on and controller will support it, 6) Under-extrusion with Titan extruder. - The bowden tube is long and curved (hey, it's a delta) but there's a lot of filament being ground,7) OLD Cura and Repetier host versions - Since the config file is in Chinese, I can't adjust the extrusion options to accommodate it fix (6) and its dictionary gcode is missing. Seems to work fine with Cura 4.6 and the QQ-S profile, 8) Wifi - don't know, the documentation is weak and the language barrier is preventing me from using it, 9) Weak platform - frame shakes and VERY shakes when typing, making it even louder. So this printer has a lot of potential and I'm typing it - slowly - hoping that some better fan shrouds can fix the part's cooling. at the tool head. Some locknuts instead of thumbscrews for belt tensioners would be an improvement. An open source firmware (or at least a link to a github repository) will help build a support community for this printer. The product just needs to be refined, the details polished, and the documentation improved to truly become a reliable device for building things that work. UPDATE December 19, 2020 One of the straps broke abruptly (see cons 3 above regarding tension - yes, the strap loosened and stretched 3 inches). I contacted FLSUN for help and they sent me parts. Haven't received them yet and timing was an issue due to the upcoming Holidays but I found a supply of 5m 2GT straps here at Revain, watched a YouTube video on how to replace/size them and PRESTO ! Back in business! The "chicken skin" problem has gotten much better and the overall print quality with the new ribbons (I replaced all 3) has improved a lot. I would give the printer 4 stars now based on its current performance, but would deduct one for premature belt failure. My messages from FLSUN regarding belt support were answered very quickly thanks to FLSUN. Happy Holidays!
