I love that this item has a retractable handle, but the problem is that if you take it out and then try to lock it, it won't stay locked. This means it will lock, but when you start cleaning the litter box, it will unlock and the scoop will start to shrink, making it harder for you to scoop the litter out of the litter box. Then you come back, stretch it, lock it and then try again, maybe you'll get a good scoop before it unlocks again. I don't know if I would recommend that if you want to expand the bucket.
