Review on πŸ”§ ATP B-263 Automatic Transmission Filter Kit: Enhanced Performance and Easy Maintenance Solution by Terrance Singletary

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Doesn't fit the way it's made. Huge neck gasket and 27 tiny screw holes.

I have changed fluids and filters on several ZF 5HP19FL transmissions (VW Passat, Audi, maybe others with FWD), this filter fits. I was happy to find a filter set with a rubber pan gasket as I found the paper gaskets to be absolutely removed next time. Unfortunately, the ATP rubber gasket has holes that are too small for the flat screws. It's not a big issue, but I was expecting to put the gasket on the pan and hold it in place with some kind of sticky layer. Instead, I had to pre-screw four screws into the spacer to hold it in place while I installed the pan. After that I had to thread the remaining 23 bolts through the gasket one at a time for fear that tiny bits of rubber would scrape off and fall into the sump. Again, not a big problem, just an annoyance. Much worse, contrary to the other reviewer's experience, the orange pump gasket that seals the filter neck and gear pump inlet was oversized. No amount of force could hold this thing in place. I was literally (yes, the classic definition of "literally") scared that I might break my plastic neck or the car would fall on me. I ended up carefully detaching the pump seal from the old filter, cleaning it and using it in its place. This didn't make me happy, but it provided a snug, snug yet possible fit and saved me waiting for another filter. Too bad ATP doesn't seem to have any gauges. The materials and construction of the seal and filter appear to be of good quality. Only the scaling is unsatisfactory.

  • Filter and seal kits
Cons
  • Hard to say
