Review on Taylor TruTemp: Dig into ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Precision Cooking with Digital Thermometer and Alarm by Robin Smith

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Poor quality thermometer and timer

First of all I'm not sure why the product page says 'Taylor' because the actual product doesn't say 'Taylor' it just says 'TruTemp'. . The alarm sounds and the temperature reading matches the other thermometer, plus or minus four degrees. There's a power button, which is annoying as similar products don't need it. Taking temperature and updating information on the LCD can be done with very little power and one would expect the digital thermometer to stay on at all times. The power button needs to be pressed for about a second for it to turn on. There is an auto shutdown feature that is not described in the paper documentation. It doesn't seem to turn off when the sensor is hot, but sometimes when I'm cooking something the sensor starts off cold and the unit turns off before the oven has warmed up. As a result, for me the device just broke, I wiped the front part with a sponge and now it does not turn on. I wouldn't order it again although if it worked it worked well enough.

Pros
  • Manufacturer's limited one year warranty
Cons
  • So-so
