I bought these to cast rounds, one set for me and one for my daughter. We both found these tools helpful. I understand why more experienced potters might pay more to have sharper grinding tools and smoother wood tools (things. I can't remember what these wood tools are called), but they were surprisingly effective. I was a little wary as the reviews here say these tools fell apart after a short service but we'll be using ours again for our next class and it looks like they'll be good for at least a few more. In fact, the teacher, a professional potter who sells her work at artist's market prices, used exactly the same tools that she demonstrated in class, although she may have fancier tools in her workshop.
