TVOC is extremely inaccurate

We had it for about 10 days and finally decided to return it. The PM2.5 readings may or may not be accurate (there's nothing quite like it and the levels stayed low most of the time), but the TVOC readings are terrible. We calibrated outside for a few minutes as suggested on first boot, then headed into the bedroom. For 4 or 5 days we panicked because the device was reading dangerous levels of volatile organic compounds every few hours. We aired the room and the level dropped, but then rose again. Sometimes nothing changed in the room or house (sometimes we weren't even home) and the device would become inoperable within minutes. There is absolutely nothing in the room that could lead to dangerous levels (fresh paint, lit candles, cleaning supplies, new furniture, etc. etc.). We almost replaced the old mattress thinking that might be the reason! We also believe the device was restarted multiple times, which is an issue as Kaiterra says it needs to be placed outside on each restart, but aside from the screen turning off and eventually turning back on, we had no idea that it will restart or need to be recalibrated. So we bought Eve Room (which only recognizes TVOC). This device finally put our minds at ease. It showed values that fluctuated more than we expected (increasing when cooking, decreasing when windows are opened, steadily increasing slowly when the room is closed during the day, etc.). This appliance has never scored below 4/5 stars except once when it fried something. While we still don't know which one is actually correct, all indications are that Eve's Room is accurate and Laser Egg is bad. Kaiterra's customer service offered to log in and check the readings to find out the cause, but to be honest it's not worth our time. The device was just supposed to work, and I don't believe in it anymore. Since Eve Room is a lot cheaper and we didn't need to specifically prove PM2.5, we're bringing it back.
