Personally it seems much cheaper. I also mistakenly thought it was connected to the monitor or could work on its own with no problem, but that's not the case. It kind of sits on top of my monitor, which is fine, but if anyone ever touches the cord, the whole thing flies away. This is a very tight angle. I usually move my monitor very far away and in meetings I sit far away from my keyboard because it's too close to my face. This is unflattering and doesn't sit well with all the usual built-in cameras on people's devices. It's not possible to change this close-up perspective on the camera itself, luckily with some apps you can compensate with small adjustments.
