I am very disappointed that Garmin ruined their Nuvi line. I have owned an old Nuvi 350 for over 6 years and I am more than thrilled with it. It has never let me down but I assumed there was a newer and better model with more options. So I ordered Nuvi 1300 with Lifetime Cards. This feature alone convinced me in addition to the large screen, the QWERTY keyboard and the faster signal reception. These features are great, but the reason to buy a GPS system is for its routing/direction capabilities. Well, save your money. This unit is terrible. Not only does it provide inaccurate routing, often going the wrong way on one-way streets, and extremely cumbersome turn-by-turn directions, it also fails to locate roads/trails. And I don't mean new roads, but old worn roads and roads. I compared the wiring on this new device to the routing on my old Nuvi and there is no comparison. My old Nuvi was always great. The assignment was completely different. And since Garmin's support staff make you think you're fine if you update your maps or change your route choices (faster, shorter, etc.). do not believe it. My maps were completely updated and I experimented with all sorts of permutations and yet the instructions were pathetic. I read that Garmin changed their mapping algorithms in 2010 and it certainly shows. I had high hopes but this GPS device is back.
