Good deal, easy to use, free maps!

UPDATED 1/28 Item returned. The route was recalculated several times out of the blue. I was in New York going through the Lincoln Tunnel and blocking when nothing showed (all white screens). I said "tell" and had no lead for about 30 seconds. Needless to say I was angry. I bought a GPS to not be afraid of making a mistake and getting lost on a side street. and ended up almost at the same position with GPS! This happened again two days later. I'll get a newer nuvi 40LM as a replacement and see…

New isn't always better

I am very disappointed that Garmin ruined their Nuvi line. I have owned an old Nuvi 350 for over 6 years and I am more than thrilled with it. It has never let me down but I assumed there was a newer and better model with more options. So I ordered Nuvi 1300 with Lifetime Cards. This feature alone convinced me in addition to the large screen, the QWERTY keyboard and the faster signal reception. These features are great, but the reason to buy a GPS system is for its routing/direction…

no doubt the worst GPS I have ever had

I have had about a dozen GPS systems in almost as many years, mostly Garmin products, and this is the first time I am seriously considering buying a GPS regret everything because of the user interface. I can't help but wonder if Garmin made any attempts at this model before unleashing this abomination on unfortunate consumers. I will say that I think the only major flaw with this device is how the device handles the touch screen, but this problem is so severe that it almost renders the device…

Don't count on it! - Sports and Wearable GPS

I replaced an old Garmin with this and was initially very impressed with the features and functionality of the screen. Even before using it, I registered the device and updated the firmware and maps. When first used, the device lost satellite reception three times during a relatively short drive. I figured it must be weather related or just orientation. On each ride the same thing happened - the device lost satellite reception (with a suction cup on the window - the sky is so clearly visible…

Newcomer nüvi

This is the first GPS unit I have ever owned, so I am not too knowledgeable when it comes to comparing this unit to other models with larger or better specs. I know it's VERY easy to use right out of the box and set up is a breeze. I charged it first via a USB connection to my computer and then downloaded software updates through Garmin including initial map updates. Initially, these updates can take up to an hour, but a secondary update I recently performed took just a few minutes…

Diamond in the Rough

My previous GPS was a Magellan Roadmate 2000 which is a few years old. When he started guiding me through parking lots using the shortest possible route, I knew it was time to replace him. I had my eye on it for months before moving on to this particular GPS. So many bad reviews put me off many other models. The Megellan line performed well but seemed limited, even limited. I was ready for something new. This fits the bill. The first thing you'll notice are the physical aspects: it's small…
