Review on 📸 Enhanced Rear View Safety with Integrated Vehicle-Specific Camera for RAV4 2002-2012 by Kevin Compton

When I added an upgraded head unit to my 2006 RAV4, I wanted something that looked like it came from the factory. This camera ticks all the boxes. The facility is not for the faint of heart. Splicing and soldering required. I also had to remove the plastic panel holding the license plate, which required fiddling with the clips in the tailgate. But if you're reading this review, then you probably won't mind. This reversing camera shoots directly instead of the normal license plate light. It's not as thick as the stock headlight, but it's still pretty tight. There are a few small protrusions on the socket that I had to cut out with a knife. The file will probably work too. Otherwise, the camera installation was very similar to any other aftermarket backup camera. I was a bit concerned that the camera was off-center, but the field of view is wide enough to really cover everything behind the car or to the sides within reason. I should note that I've just tested it in the dark and it works fine, although it doesn't have an additional IR illuminator. The picture seems to be slightly skewed and I can see the angle of the license plate trim in the top corner, but in the end it does the job well enough.
