I mounted this on the basement wall, right at the entrance to the basement. I know it's silly, but it changed my life because I regularly had hooks to hang mops and brooms from to create obstacles as I carried my bikes up and down the stairs to the basement on a daily basis; They get stuck in the frame or wheels of the bike. (basement is quite narrow). Now I can store items on top and confirm the gap. I make better use of the space. I don't know why I waited so long to solve such a simple problem. I love this organizer and will be buying more for my detached garage.
