Nice and smooth rubberized plastic on the back. Very clear matte silver stand and buttons. The buttons are covered but still very responsive. The edge is textured for a secure grip. The rim is thick enough to protect against falls, but definitely not bulky. The only very minor issue is that the kickstand only has one position, but that position is the right angle for both portrait reading and landscape video viewing, so it's really not a problem. I bought mine for the iPhone 8+ for $10 so it was a great deal. Now it's $30+.
