Sparks hot from cold

Not for boats and beach areas. It worked normally for six weeks, one or two rides totaling 8 hours, but rusted very quickly and failed. On inspection the (colored) "brass" fittings were not brass at all, they were steel with a thin brass plate which rusted quickly, the body rusted horribly (mostly superficially but I haven't seen any corrosion that quick, especially considering the boat is on a trailer and sheltered from the rain). The fault was caused by a corroded grounding tab and when I tried to pry that tab off to clean it flipped around inside the case. So much corrosion and I can rule out plating because the boat is on a battery switch that turns off when the boat is not in use. Part rusts after 8 hours of use and 6 weeks total.
