I've had a lot of different computer speakers over the years, all in this price range. Creative GigaWorks plays well with others I've had. Most speakers I've used before have 2 speakers plus a subwoofer, but I like the Gigaworks approach: two speakers is better and no subwoofer. For 90% of the things I do the subwoofer is overkill anyway, IMHO. In general, the sound is good. The built-in amplifier is sufficient, I like the sound. One thing I don't like is the way it turns itself off. As mentioned, it will "go to sleep" after a while and turn back on after a few seconds after sending audio to the speakers. As a result, you always seem to miss the first few seconds of anything sent to these speakers. Why do you think it's a good idea? Anyway, that's all I don't like. These speakers are very easy to install, sound good for the price and don't take up much space.
