It is what it is. and that's good!

I have this item that is less than 3 days old. Originally I was looking for an ultra wide angle lens for night photography. I wanted to buy Rokinon 14mm but the price at the time wasn't what I was willing to pay for. I bought this lens as an alternative and use it with my Canon t4i. First impression, it's a big lens but it feels good. The build actually seems able to take a few hits and keep up, which is good in my case as I've been in the woods and mountains with a variety of lenses. This is a manual lens, but not the most difficult to understand. The focus ring seems almost useless, as a beginner you won't notice much of a difference when turning the ring. I haven't had a chance to go out and use it during the day, only at home after testing it. he seems able to handle any situation. At night he managed well enough for me. The image I provided is from a rest stop outside of Flagstaff. This is a stock image with no editing, I was at the highest ISO with a 30 second shutter speed. Flagstaff is a heavily polluted area so you can see the city lights sadly but expectedly hit it. It captured the Milky Way, which I was dying to do and couldn't do with my previous lenses. Overall I like the lens, I would recommend it for its price and build, if you are a beginner it will be a fun lens to have in your arsenal to learn and build. This may seem like a novelty if you are a pro, but may be useful in some urban/outdoor environments.

Nice and heavy! Great landscape shots, but focusing on nearby subjects is not a strong point.
