So I'm disappointed in my choice

Doll clothes were bought as a gift for a little girl with spina bifida who is recovering from surgery and will need to be wheelchair bound for 2 months. She was given an American Girl doll at the hospital, so I thought doll clothes would make a nice gift. I believe all American Girl dolls are the same size but the clothes were difficult to put on. Before a size suitable for a specific doll is advertised, the QC department can try it before shipping. Instead of taking the gift back, I decided to apologize and let her mother make the adjustments. So I was disappointed in my choice.
