This digital multimeter (DMM), along with its Fluke 289 sibling, is considered the industry standard for portable DMMs when it comes to reading accuracy and features. However, it is quite bulky for everyday handheld use. In addition, the contrast of the dot matrix display falls short of the more common LCDs found on traditional DMMs. Left to right: Fluke 87V, Brymen 869s, Fluke 287. Note the low contrast display of the Fluke 287 with and without the backlight compared to the other two DMMs. Also, the images do not show the "doubling" of the last digit, which can be uncomfortable for people prone to motion sickness.
