Description of Fluke 287 True-RMS Electronics Logging Multimeter: Simplify Your Diagnostics with Accuracy and Efficiency

Auto and manual ranging, datalogging digital multimeter measures voltage, current, resistance, frequency, capacitance, temperature, conductance, pulse width, and duty cycle. True RMS meter provides accurate readings when measuring linear or nonlinear loads where the current or voltage has a sinusoidal or nonsinusoidal waveform. Datalogging features include minimum, maximum, and average, on screen graphing, real time clock, data hold, and data export to a computer. Backlit LCD displays multiple measurements simultaneously and plots measurements on a single line to detect signal anomalies over time. Specifications include European Conformity (CE) marking, UL, CSA, IEC safety standard 61010 and is certified for Category I installations up to 1000V and Category II installations up to 300V, IEC/EN 61010 1 2nd edition for 1 meter drop. Logging features designed for unattended monitoring. On board help screens for measurement functions. Multi lingual interface.

Very good gauge. Supplied with production certificate.

Good counter. Very accurate. I am measuring deep cycle DC batteries and can see stable down to 0.001 volts. You really need that kind of precise resolution when you're dealing with solar panels and deep cycle. The device is accompanied by a manufacturer's certificate showing how it was tested at the time of manufacture. It shows different voltages and test results of the blocks. In terms of value for money, I rate it worse because it is a very expensive voltmeter. But expect it to last for many

Pros
  • It's amazing
Cons
  • Expensive

Excellent quality and features, but display doesn't look good on aging eyes

This digital multimeter (DMM), along with its Fluke 289 sibling, is considered the industry standard for portable DMMs when it comes to reading accuracy and features. However, it is quite bulky for everyday handheld use. In addition, the contrast of the dot matrix display falls short of the more common LCDs found on traditional DMMs. Left to right: Fluke 87V, Brymen 869s, Fluke 287. Note the low contrast display of the Fluke 287 with and without the backlight compared to the other two DMMs…

First class. Electrician

Thank you Fluke for designing such a great multimeter. Incredible accuracy. Incredible resolution. Incredible throughput. Numerous functions. Is it expensive. But worth the price. This is a true RMS meter that is better than a traditional meter, especially for measuring complex non-sinusoidal waveforms. 0.01 microamps. Resolution 0.001mV. Bandwidth from 50 Hz to 100 kHz, which is very good. I use it to work with electric guitar amps and it works flawlessly. It works for duty cycle and relative…

Unfortunately totally useless for measuring small capacitances

I got this because of the claimed 1% accuracy for capacitance measurements. Unfortunately, what I didn't realize is that it's completely useless for small vessels (less than 1-2 nags) due to the residual capacity of the huge test leads that come with this meter. There's a RES mode that should basically take care of that and allows you to go to zero before taking a reading - but there's no dedicated softkey for that, so you have to toggle that mode on and off(?) and actually that do I won't get…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Perfect! good for electrical

This is the first Fluke test tool I've used. Although it's quite expensive, it's worth the money. The accuracy is incredible, the build quality is very good, and the safety specs are reassuring. You can watch a YouTube video of how a cheap multimeter will explode if high voltage is used at the wrong setting; and then the Fluke worker holds the Fluke gauge while repeating the previous experiment and the gauge is fine. This meter has a ton of measurement options and is pretty easy to use. The…

Pros
  • High marks for tester support and durability

Caution: Fluke products may ship with very old or leaking batteries

Good news first. I watched dozens of YouTube videos before purchasing the Fluke 287. I was very familiar with its capabilities as soon as I turned it on. This is my first Fluke digital test tool and I'm sure it will be with me for the rest of my life. I'm deducting a star for storage issues. Now for some bad news. My recent buying experience has been far from satisfactory. This is a more expensive multimeter that only the most diligent professional or avid electronics hobbyist could consider…
