Review on 🧢 Enhanced Multi-Color Knitter's Pride Zing Deluxe Interchangeable Needle Set by Amber Perez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Could these be the perfect circular knitting replacement needles for me?!

I have been tirelessly searching for the best circular needles for my use for about 20 years. I'm sure there are other knitters out there with similar intentions so you can get an idea. I have been knitting for many years and have a large selection of needles; I have all the big brands that have decent reviews and have used them all. A lot of. I used to think that the best needles to use for a particular project depended on the pattern, yarn/fiber, type of garment, etc., and that may be true to an extent. IMHO the skill and diligence of the knitter is more important. I also felt that the more expensive the needles, the better they would hold up and work. Imagine my surprise when I decided to try Zing Interchangeables. At first I was skeptical for a number of reasons. First of all I didn't think they cost enough to be great. Think Addi Clicks or Lykke Driftwood. Also see what they are made of: aluminum?! abominable. Nickel plated, bamboo, birch, steel or carbon fiber maybe, but aluminum? Hm. Yes, I find myself sounding more and more snobbish with every word I write. The connection cables are initially quite stiff and perhaps too thick. And they don't twist where they hit the tips of the needles like the HiyaHiyas do. I apologize for the snobbish attitude. I actually have a lot to say and after using Zings to knit the hat, hood and actual WIP (gradient wrap) I'm starting to realize I absolutely love these Knitters Pride Zings! I almost fought back. I have to admit that aluminum is very comfortable in my hands and yes I have arthritis. By the way, what is this "Oh those black needles warm my hands so nice"? I've never heard a knitter tell me they sit around and knit with cold needles. However, Zing needles are light, strong, and appear to be solid and precise instruments. The tips are silvery and smooth but the colored part is matte and almost what everyone thinks is the perfect balance of grip and smoothness. The points are correct. I easily knit lace with them, but they aren't sharp enough to puncture me. The wrap I'm working on has a lot of K3tog TBL and Zings makes it easy. The cords, which I initially thought were too thick, are actually perfect. They don't twist, the yarn slides easily over them, and they feel secure for years. It's reassuring to know they won't fall out of needles while you're in the middle of a complex wiring pattern. And sorrow, I didn't have to "dip them in boiling water". Why is? shish. As far as stitching goes, Knitters Pride gets an A+++ for smooth stitching. I use the magic loop method a ton and always put the needles in rows of live stitches and I haven't noticed a catch yet. (Incidentally, that's my main complaint about one of the most expensive sets I own.) I really love these needles so much that writing this review made me realize what the most important aspects of tools are in our profession. Good knitting needles should be well constructed, strong, and reliable. They are designed to increase our ability to learn more complex techniques and help us develop fine motor skills. They should be simple and do exactly what they are designed to do. Thanks Knitters Pride; I have already gone back and bought smaller sizes with fixed circular needles in different lengths. I love her and am so glad I finally found her. And thanks for reading if you made it through this long, wordy, opinionated review. As you'd expect, I highly recommend them!
